About Us
Everyone deserves happiness.
Happiness is relative yet indisputable. People strive for happiness, and once their happiness is obtained, they protect it by establishing mental and emotional barriers to keep them in their euphoric state of content. Happiness is key to a fulfilling life, but what happens when someone is robbed of their chance at being genuinely happy? What happens when someone is not free to pursue their sense of identity and be themselves? What happens when an individual has been forced to come to terms with possible life-everlasting unhappiness?
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) are just some of the many sexual orientations or gender identities that people all around the world continue to accept and embrace. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community strive to assist one another in taking pride in their individualism in a changing and progressive world. People learn to accept their varying sexual orientations or gender identities every day, introducing themselves to a newfound world of pride and happiness. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many individuals living in places or an environment where it is not socially or religiously acceptable to openly identify as LBGTQIA+ taking into account that the safety of their lives and well being are possibly at stake.
This all-too-common occurrence is one of the main reasons why we have chosen to take part in the establishment of the “HAPPY Campaign”. The HAPPY Campaign is a year-long fundraising campaign for the San Francisco LGBT Center. The Center provides programs and services for those struggling with their sexual orientation or gender identity, sponsors events that consist of LGBT activists speaking on behalf of the community, and raises money to donate to organizations and charities in favor of their efforts. By promoting and selling buttons, hats, tee shirts, and sweaters adorned with the HAPPY Campaign logo at school, online, and amongst the international community, the Happy Campaign Team aims to raise (and possibly exceed) $1000 by the conclusion of the year-long project and donate our earnings to the Center.
